This Google Presentation is on force and motion, which encompasses a whole unit in the second grade science curriculum. While designing this slide show I tried to keep in mind the key factors to understanding force and motion. I also tried to include relevant photos that would make solid connections to these complex concepts in kids minds. I would use this as a support while introducing this concept for the first time. I think Google presentations are easy to use and I like that they add a collaboration feature that Power Point and other presentation platforms are lacking. However, to be honest, I do not find this to be the most useful Web 2.0 tool. As I mentioned earlier I may use it as a visual support to an initial lesson, but aside from that I think there are many other tools with more value and impact for the kids, especially the little ones. On another note however, I think it’s a great, simple tool to teach kids how to use for presentations. They could collaborate as groups or partnerships and their teacher could log on and check out their work or help make revisions. I am a huge proponent on getting kids into creating and presenting. I think it is a very important life and career readiness skill. Another positive in this case is that parents can access this presentation at home to help their kids prepare for the test!
