Refelction

This blog journals my daily life as a teacher. As you read you will see some interesting thoughts form, some funny anecdotes and some realities of life as a NYC Public School teacher. I chose this topic for my blog because I felt that it best fit the goal of my portfolio, which is to bring all members of my classroom and their families together and to build an understanding of one another. I think it is important for kids and their parents to see you as a real person with feelings and opinions.
As for blogging, I think it is a very useful tool and I very much enjoy reading other peoples blogs. I think it’s a great way to express yourself, to share ideas, get ideas and communicate with others who have like interests or opinions. However, it’s not something that I really enjoyed doing myself. Many times it felt like a chore. That being said, I admire people who blog and I respect the amount of time it takes and the upkeep of maintaining a successful blog. I will continue to read blogs, but I think my blogging days are over!
As for my students, blogging is not something I will be teaching them. I think that when blogging you must be very careful what you say and you must be able to reasonably deal with comments and criticism. In my opinion, its just too much responsibility for 7 year olds.
